Hazel Chandler is an award winning director/writer/producer of documentaries, drama and current affairs based in London and Sierra Leone. She started Wilderness Productions in 2004 to focus on feature documentaries – strong personal stories with international appeal; often exploring human rights issues. She has completed a range of powerful and award winning films in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Niger, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Indonesia, Burma, Kashmir, USA, Colombia and the Philippines. 5 years ago Hazel started making a film about the lives of a group of street boys in Kenema, Sierra Leone, and this led to the forming of charity WAYout ,with Michael Chandler, which promotes music and film in Sierra Leone. Street to Street, a WAYout project, puts street youth in touch with students worldwide. Described by one teacher as “A phenomenal insight”.
Hazel has worked in conflict zones and undercover. She now develops drama with Michael Chandler, short drama/animation The Fall is now in festivals around the world and their first feature "Transient" is in development.
